I'm someone who has survived abuse and knows how important accountability is, but I've

also seen how much harm caused by this shame and canceling that people resort to online.

Yeah, I get this question quite a bit,

and I've talked about this before,

So anytime we name something in our culture, we tend to reduce it.

Cancel culture, that's our name for it.

That name came out a couple years ago.

We didn't have a name for it before,

but of course we were doing cancel culture.

We were canceling people.

It was just in a different way and we didn't call it that.

So when we name something, we tend to reduce it, meaning we tend to simplify what it means.

You know, when I say cancel culture, I think most people think of like something that's bad,

bad but let's like let's look more closely at what this means it's like words

like Obamacare or social justice warrior these sorts of things get reduced and they end up taking

negative connotations. But we have to be smarter than that. So let's look at, you you know what is cancel culture what does that mean
