Summary

Shawn Geris is a Detective Constable for the Toronto Police Service.  At TPS he specializes in gang prevention hosting the Project #Engage416 podcast and YouTube Channel.  Shawn is also very accomplished in the sports of wrestling and jujitsu.  In 2008 he won the Canadian National title in wrestling and then went on to medal in the Olympic trials.  Since then, he has been coaching at various levels and has also been a UFC corner man for one of the biggest names out there.  It was a really fun interview with a truly exceptional copper.

Quite icy up here right before the podcast I was out using my ice scraper as a pickaxe to get our cars undone did the thing were it snowed and then it rained and then it snowed quite awful.

But you know I tell everybody I love the seasons and I do just when you're getting sick of winter spring rolls around. So that's what I've been up to guys burning some calories in the in the drive when I have to say we have a tractor.

Which I've never used for snow before because I never owned a tractor but it's a little tractor and it's amazing. It's nothing more fun than using your tractor to move snow.

I came home the other day my neighbor was very gracious had already done my driveway for me and I was a little bit disappointed because I wanted to run the tractor and feel like a real man for once in my life.

No no no it sounds like you got more snow than we do right now. Yeah but it's really Wednesday we're going to be hit with a big bunch of snow so you guys must have a down to a science like out here I live kind of on the edge of the hill towns and it seems like if you even go up a couple hundred feet elevation it can totally change the climate.

So like I said it just it snowed I was like all right I can do a snow was powdery and cold and then it got warm and it rained on the snow then it snowed again it was like I'm not lying I was out there like with the with the ice chipper sideways like

trying to get it loose socks yeah I've been there man it's crazy I bet it's crazy you guys you guys probably get people like trapped in their houses out there like in the house skirts.

Yeah let's tell you the truth Buffalo this year which is about I'm trying to think it's about an hour and a bit away from where I live that was it got hit really bad and people were trapped in their houses there just by the lake and stuff like that so I was pretty crazy to see that.

Yeah I heard in Buffalo if you get trapped in your house you should just close your eyes and die because the city is terrible.

Yeah sad I talked I know people grew up there and now when they like go back they're like oh my gosh this place is terrible.

Yeah you know I've been to concerts down there I went to sub lake children at the at the at some hockey games there but I'm in driving in there and seeing you know the city just kind of falling apart sad to see.

Yeah we were going to plan a family trip it was like I think between bar harbour or Niagara Falls and everybody's like just go to the Canadian side get your passport because you know West A Buffalo.

Yeah true yeah it's the Niagara Falls Canada usually gets a lot of Americans there which is nice.

Yeah yeah that's cool I always felt like there was it was weird I was reading an article the other day like a little pop up thing that popped up and it was saying that Canadians didn't like Americans
