Over the weekend, Canadian police cleared a group of protesters off the Ambassador Bridge.

The bridge is a major trade route between Canada and the US, especially for the automotive

industry.

And for more than a week, it's been blocked by a group of protesters and trucks.

Protests have been spreading across Canada in recent weeks.

They started in Ottawa, Canada's capital city, where demonstrators turned part of the

city's downtown into a parking lot by using big rig trucks and heavy duty equipment to

block traffic.

The demonstrations are targeting Canada's vaccine mandates and COVID restrictions.

Among the Ottawa protesters is Sean Lawyer, a handyman.

Like many, he traveled hours to get to the capital this past weekend.

We're driving with, and we're 16 people we came down with the entire family.

Three generations we brought our children.

I even brought my dog.

We're not going nowhere.

We're here to fight.

For our freedom, our rights, our ability to choose.

Whether we want to do something or not, it's my body, my temple.

And I should have the right to choose what's going in it.

What started as a protest against vaccine mandates for truckers has turned into a bigger

stand against how the Canadian government has handled the pandemic more broadly.
