0:19.0	You know, there is a phrase that was uttered by Jesus in Luke chapter 14 and was uttered several times, actually not once or twice.
0:31.2	And I have to confess to you, every time I read that, I just wince just for a moment.
0:38.3	I kind of have a little bit of a shiver going down my spine.
0:43.3	Every time I read that phrase, it has an impact on me.
0:48.8	I know I'm saved, and I know I'm going to heaven.
0:52.3	And I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ.
0:55.1	But somehow every time I read that phrase, it has an impact on me.
1:02.0	And that phrase is, you cannot be my disciple, you cannot be my disciple, you cannot be my disciple,
1:08.3	you cannot be my disciple.
1:09.8	And Jesus repeated that several times in Luke 14.
1:15.0	And I had to ask myself, why did Jesus have to be so negative in such positive world? You know what
1:23.0	mean? We all want to think positive thoughts, positive thinking, all of that stuff. And yet Jesus comes
1:29.3	into such negative statement, obviously he has not read the book, How to Win Friends and Influence
1:34.4	People. And I have to ask myself, why? Why did he have to put it in the negative? Why did he
1:40.5	have to say, you cannot be my disciple? You cannot be my disciple. Why do you say, well, if you want to be my disciple, you do this and this and the other thing. And I'm going to say, you cannot be my disciple, you cannot be my disciple? Why don't he say, well, if you want to be my disciple
1:45.4	you do this and this and the other thing? And I'm convinced now it is because Jesus did not want anyone to follow him for the wrong reasons.
1:56.3	Jesus did not want anyone to follow him under false pretenses.
2:03.6	Jesus was deeply concerned of those who are merely interested in him because of his power,
2:13.9	because of his miracles, because of his wisdom, those who are merely interested in him because
