Morning everybody. Welcome along to your free podcast for today.

I had to mention at the beginning of this free podcast, the fact that Phil Hughes, the Australian batsman, has died age 25.

I must also confess that I had no idea who he was at all.

I knew that a batsman had been hit, but I didn't realize who it was.

And so the news came through on my program this morning that he never regained consciousness and he died in hospital, in Sydney.

He was carried off. He was, it was a short pitch delivery which struck his head, missing the

helmet. And that was the problem. He was wearing a helmet. And it's very sad. He was surrounded by family and friends

and they say, you know, extend their deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this really,

really sad time. I think it's a very sad day for cricket. Very sad day for cricket. And,

you know, for a young life to be cut short, playing the national game seems a shocking aberration.

He was loved, admired and respected by his teammates and by legions of cricket fans.

So 25 years old, it's just nothing, is it really? Absolutely nothing.
