Personally, I won't recommend the came to the UK this year.

I would rather recommend them to defer their offer.

It's exactly what Western universities don't want to hear.

So have they become too financially dependent on fee-paying students from China?

It's all become really a big money game.

That's a problem for people like me who are much more motivated to be part of a university

by the educational mission, not so much for the

revenue generation mission.

I am going to study in the University of York in September. It's my

first time studying abroad, so I'm very excited about it. Alan there is coming to the UK to take a

master's in global and international citizenship education. He's one of the hundreds of thousands

of Chinese students heading off to study at a university abroad.

In fact, according to the UN, there were almost one million Chinese studying overseas in 2017,

making China the largest sending country of international students worldwide by far.

Many of them head to Western universities.
