The first question of the week comes from Ivan, who asks this, Pastor John, I'm a pastor

here in the Philippines.

I began to embrace Christian hedonism about three years ago ever since it's been my

passion to spread the truth that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied

in him.

Amen.

This has become the foundation of everything I do in ministry, even the focal point of

everything I say in the pulpit as well as in my Bible studies.

Your book, when I don't desire God, really influence me.

Ever since then, my main ministry has been to remind God's people that they should fight

for joy, to train them how to fight for joy, to teach them why they should fight for

joy and what it really means and to show them how this fight is related to other teachings

in the Bible.

Now, here's my question, is it possible for me to overemphasize Christian hedonism and

how do I know if I was?

The first part of the answer is simple, but the second part is not so simple and is certainly

not simple to implement.

So the first part of the answer is simply yes.

It is possible to overemphasize Christian hedonism just like it is possible to overemphasize

joy or sorrow or pain or death or heaven or hell or the deity of Christ or the sovereignty

of God or the call to missions or the cause of justice.
