Former President Donald Trump faces all kinds of legal issues, but as the race to the White

House in 2024 heats up, Trump and his legal team have a clear strategy, delay, delay.

I spoke with USA Today National Political Correspondent David Jackson to learn more.

Trump and his legal team have asked a federal judge to push back a trial on the charges

related to classified documents.

What's the latest on this motion?

It's pending and we're all waiting on pins and needles for judge Alene Cannon and Florida

to make a decision about this request.

We initially set a trial date for mid-August, but no one really thought that was realistic.

The U.S. government came in and said, we want to wait until December because we have a

lot of classified information we have to go through and we have to decide how much of this

we want to put up a trial or keep secret.

The Trump legal team came in after that and said, hey, we want to delay the trial indefinitely

both because of the classified nature of this situation, but also because he's running

for president and he's simply too busy and there's too many distractions for him to mount
