Passover is over. Easter is over. Ironically, my grandmother would say Bashert, which means it was determined, destined.

The Pope died on Monday of Easter a week.

He was a great man and a man of integrity and a man who tried very hard to reform the Catholic Church.

We disagreed fundamentally on some issues of human rights and on his focus on some countries

and not other countries and his kind of progressive South American

attitudes toward human rights, but nobody can doubt his tremendous, tremendous devotion.

And so my condolences go to all my many, many Catholic friends, particularly my Italian and Irish Catholic friends who I grew up with and been to many, many Catholic events.
