You know what they need, Tiki?

They need Freddie Peralta to be something he's never been, which is a guy who goes deep into games. Well, he labors. I mean, forget, not struggles, but he just, he's 93 pitches in the fifth inning or 90-something pitches in the fifth inning. And then he gets in the sixth inning. I know. He's just, it's over for him. And I wrestle between, this is who he is.

Like, Freddie Peralta hasn't pitched into the seventh inning and recorded and out yet this

season. Last year, he did it twice. Right. Twice. The entire season. The year before that, he did it

once. So I wrestle with myself. Like, should I rip someone for not being somebody different than

he truly is? Yeah.

Or should we just say, hey, we're just disappointed that this is who he is, even though his whole track record is, he's a six-inning pitcher. And I thought Howie Rose yesterday laid the hammer down on Freddie Peralta. Did he really? Yeah. Howie Rose is at the point in his career. to go as deep in a game as the Mets would like.

He's had three outings of six innings or more, and he treats a six-itting outing like

it's worthy of a parade.

So for anyone who says, but Evan, this is who Freddie Peralta is, my answer is, okay, fine. Was he then worth two top 100 prospects? And is he worth an eight-year contract? The answer is no.
