And on today's show, the pelicans get a big win over the jazz the Knicks may actually be good

and the Nets won in overtime against the spurs but we begin today in Atlanta where

the Hawks have fired their head coach Lloyd Pierce after two plus seasons.

Pierce was facing mounting pressure to make the playoffs,

but had the Hawks at 14 and 20, an 11th place in the east

before he was fired.

They were coming off a loss to the heat on Sunday in which they blew a fourth quarter lead for the 11th time this season

But the Hawks have also been dealing with injuries especially to veterans like Denela Galenari

Chris Dunn and Bogdan Bogdanbukdan, who could have helped a young core.

David, did Pierce deserve to get fired or is he just the victim of unfair expectations?

I'm not sure if deserve is the right word, but I also don't think he was just a victim I think it was a

combination of different factors where there were these unfair expectations

and also mounting pressure on a franchise that it's had so little success over the last I don't know what

decade. Aside from their one Eastern conference run with that all-star team of

talented players they've really have not had a lot of great success a lot of winning in Atlanta

They have had a problem attracting fans now all of a sudden they retool this team

They bring in a lot of players. They've got a young all-star and Trey Young and they can't seem to quite figure it out and I think
