that the big cultural event on our doorstep is Halloween. There's the big parade in the

village on Tuesday of course but there are scary and scary fun events around town this weekend

too. Are you familiar with the term hola weekend? So to hear about some of them we're joined

by our own Rosemarina Boobion, New York Public Radio's receptionist who gathered this information

And let's start with Tuesday's parade and then we'll get to what is called hola weekend

but the village Halloween parade is turning 50 this year huh? Yeah um the parade is really

such a New York institution. It puts on display so much of the spirit of the city especially

for the village with all the beautiful costumes and just you know all the fun people that

come out. And it kicks around kicks off just around the corner from our offices I believe

right? So when does it start and what's the route? Yeah so it runs up 6th Avenue starting at

Canal Street and it goes up to west 15 at 7. There's a theme this year? Yes the theme is upside down

inside out and kind of referencing this topsy-turvy year that we've had and coming out from the chaos

and just being able to show everyone who you are and what you want to be. Upside down inside out

the theme for the Halloween parade in the village on Tuesday and a grand marshal. Yes the grand

marshal is artist and musician Laurie Anderson who is really active in the New York scene

in the 7th year. That's so sweet. And also in memory of Lou Reed. Yeah her her late husband.
