| 0:00.0 | Hello, I'm Liz Earle and a very warm welcome to the Lizar Wellbeing Show. It's Monday the 1st of December and I have lots of interesting health and well-being questions from you. | 0:23.7 | Now, if you have a question that you'd like me to answer, do get in touch. |
| 0:27.6 | All the contact details are in the episode description and also at the end of the show. |
| 0:33.7 | So coming up today, I will be talking about some leading research that proves just how vital fish oils are for aging well. |
| 0:42.5 | Anne asks how much is too much vitamin D? Anonymous has a great question on body weight. |
| 0:49.8 | And Victoria asks about a viral potentially pro-aging face cream. |
| 0:56.0 | And our final question today is all about strengthening our bones. |
| 1:08.5 | Now before I get to your questions today, I just want to chat quickly through some research that I found on fish oils, because there was a really groundbreaking study showing that fish oil could help delay menopause by years. And this was showing that women taking omega-3 supplements may actually experience menopause later, |
| 1:28.1 | which could potentially reduce health risks. |
| 1:31.3 | This was new research that came out of the University of Leeds, |
| 1:35.0 | and they analysed data from over 3,500 British women. |
| 1:39.1 | It was published in the journal called Nutrients, |
| 1:42.3 | and it found that women who took fish oil supplements |
| 1:45.2 | experienced a dramatically lower early menopause |
| 1:49.4 | compared to those who didn't. |
| 1:51.0 | In fact, the research showed a 95% reduction |
| 1:54.2 | in the likelihood of menopause starting earlier than average. |
| 1:58.6 | And of course, we know that if you do start menopause early |
| 2:01.6 | and you're not given replacement hormones, |
| 2:04.6 | then you are at greater health risk of those lost hormones and those early years. |
| 2:10.6 | So menopause typically begins usually between the age of about 45 and early 50s. |
| 2:16.6 | For non-white women, that's often earlier. |
