I think it can indeed be a valuable tool. For my local bookstore, I use them for any school

visits I may do locally. Last year, I spent a day

visiting four elementary schools virtually in my area. We set up an advanced book order and sold

almost a thousand copies with pre-orders. A thousand copies. That's impressive. The bookstore then

ordered the books. I signed and personalized everyone, and the store then delivered the books to each school.

It benefited my local bookstore income-wise and helped get the book on an indie list for that week,

which created further publicity for the book.
