and together we're going to be tackling the discussion about covenant succession.

Now, the term covenant succession has been predominantly used in Presbyterian circles as

a coherent doctrine with the review of paedobaptism.

That's the baptism of babies.

But as you know, Joel and I are both reformed baptists who hold to the 1689 confession

of faith.

In other words, we do not baptize babies.

But today's discussion will be answering this question, can reform baptists hold to

the doctrine of covenant succession or is covenant succession only coherent with the

Presbyterian view?

Now, this is a big question because historically reformed baptists have not associated themselves

with the doctrine of covenant succession.

This is really new territory for baptists.

In fact, I called Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, who is the president of Grace Bible Theological

Seminary and the founder of Free Grace Press to talk to him about it.

And this guy is a scholar and reformed baptist theology and the 1689.

And even he said, this was new territory for our generation and it needs to be discussed.

Now, I know most of you are wondering what is covenant succession?

So here is a working definition.

That succession is the doctrine that children of believers are expected to succeed in the

faith of their parents.
