Regenerative farming is all about building healthier soil. But does healthier soil make our food

0:06.5

more nutritious? And by extension, does it make us healthier? Well, the answer turns out to be a

0:11.7

bit more complicated than you might think. Hello, I'm Monica Rineagle, and this is The Nutrition Diva Podcast, a show where we take a closer look at nutrition news, research, and trends, so that you can make more informed decisions about what you eat.

I recently had a fantastic opportunity to attend a conference on regenerative agriculture.

0:40.1

It was hosted by the Soil Health Academy.

0:42.5

This is a non-profit organization that educates and helps farmers and ranchers in adopting regenerative practices.

0:49.7

1:37.7

1:43.6

Shout out to Hidden Waters Farm in

1:45.5

Pikesville, Maryland. Because if we believe in the value of this approach, then we need to make

1:53.5

regenerative agriculture financially feasible for the farmers who are trying to better steward

1:58.7

the environment in this way.

2:01.5

One of the themes that was woven throughout this conference was the importance of context.

2:08.5

Because regenerative agriculture isn't about following a rigid set of rules, it's about

2:14.0

applying a set of practices thoughtfully in the context of each unique farm and ecosystem.

2:23.2

Ray Archiletta, one of the patron saints of this movement, expresses it this way.

2:28.2

Information is essential, but knowledge is information in context, which allows us to connect all the dots accurately
