0:21.1	first. Although we might not know who said it, its meaning is clear. God uses imperfect people to
0:27.6	accomplish his perfect will. God uses messy, broken, sinful people to further his kingdom.
0:34.2	That's encouraging, because we are messy, broken, sinful, and imperfect people. We've been through
0:40.0	all kinds of troubles and difficulties, most of which we've made for ourselves. We've been through
0:45.0	rehab and divorces and bankruptcies. We're aware how we don't live up to our own standards,
0:51.2	much less God's standards. If God is looking for good people or perfect people
0:56.3	or people who have it all together, then he's not going to look for us. But God's pattern in the
1:02.0	Bible is to use broken people. Think about Abraham. He protected himself by lying twice about his
1:09.2	relationship with Sarah, and each time he put his wife's
1:12.8	safety in jeopardy. But God used Abraham to be the father of the nation of Israel. Or consider Noah. He was a
1:20.7	drunk, but God used him to build an ark to save his people. Tamar pretended to be a prostitute
1:27.3	to get her father-in-law to sleep with her.
1:30.0	In spite of her deception, in spite of her sin, God worked through her child to give us the Messiah.
1:37.3	Moses killed the man. Moses argued with the Lord, and he grew so discouraged that he asked God to
1:42.8	kill him. But God used Moses to lead the
1:45.8	people out of Egypt through the sea and into the promised land. King David sinfully committed adultery
1:52.6	by coercing Bathsheba into sleeping with him, and then had her husband Uriah murdered
