On the other side are adherents of what is known as "conditional security."In this episode, Dr. David K. Bernard explains what these terms mean and examines what the Bible says about this eternally-important question.I...

One of the big debates in Christianity is over whether a believer can lose their

0:40.4

salvation. On one side, we have proponents of what is known as the doctrine of eternal security

0:45.9

or what's sometimes euphemistically referred to as once saved, always saved. And on the other

0:50.5

side, we have what's known as conditional security. What exactly do those terms mean,

0:56.1

first of all? And on what side of the debate, DeWundness Pentecostals fall? And maybe most importantly,

1:29.8

and it's not what Pentecostals believe either. What I would like to describe is we can have

1:38.7

assurance of salvation. So it's conditional in the sense that if you, even after you're saved, if you repudiate God, if you walk away from God, if you denounce God, you break the relationship.

1:51.4

No, you're not going to be saved.

1:53.9

But if you continue to walk by faith, and even though you might sin, but immediately, as 1 John chapter 1 talks about it,

2:04.7

if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us

2:09.7

from all in righteousness.
