Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine generated strong protection against COVID-19 in a large late-stage trial.

The news raises hope that it can rapidly reshape a stumbling immunization campaign.

In a statement today, the company said that while the vaccine was shown to prevent 66% of moderate to severe

cases of COVID-19, it was particularly effective at keeping people from getting severely ill.

J&J will deliver about 2 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine
