Today on Business Daily with Rick Kelsey in Spain, a new way to drive an electric car.

This is for us, this is the most different way to charge our vehicles.

It's a swapping way.

No longer charging, but swapping batteries when you run life.

We wanted to put it in very accessible places, places that you know were very easy to reach.

And we have taken shopping malls, we have taken parking spaces inside the cities, we have taken gas stations.

We are in the Spanish capital, Madrid, a city hoping to lead the way on a new type of urban

electric vehicle driving.

So certainly there are cities where it makes a huge amount of sense.

For example, very, very dense urban centres where it is difficult to get that parking.

Or perhaps places where mopeds and three-wheeled vehicles like Tuk-tuks

are a huge part of the vehicles that are driven around that city.

We'll meet the engineers trying to persuade the public to take it up

and speaking to the motoring journalists to see if swapping batteries

or charging your car at your desk will actually become a big thing.

I'm in a taxi going from the airport, the short ride into the centre of Madrid,

with a wider population of almost 7 million people.

It is a densely packed hot city in the centre of Spain

and one hoping to become one of the world's leading places when it comes to new types of zero

emissions cars for cities. I've come to meet Vivek Nain, one of the brains behind a new way to power

EVs in Spain.
