A ban on foreigners owning homes in Canada went into effect day before yesterday.

And the reason for this is something just in Trudeau, the Prime Minister campaigned on

winning ran for re-election in 2021.

And the reason why was because the cost of Canadian homes had just gone through the roof.

It was, it had gone from the average home in Canada had gone from 630 Canadian,

well actually instead of Canadian dollars, I'll do this in US dollars.

It had gone from $485,000 US dollars, which is a lot.

I mean, that's the neighborhood where it's actually a little above, I think,

what the median house price is here in Portland, or maybe it's a little lower.

Portland is around a half a million, but any whatever, to over $590,000 US dollars.

And one of the reasons why apparently was that a lot of foreigners were buying homes in Canada

as their investment homes or as their second homes or whatever.
