Hello everyone and welcome to talk nerdy. Today is Monday, July 13th, 2020 and I'm the

host of the show Kara Santa Maria. I'm actually leaving the country for a few weeks, a little over a month,

starting this week, but don't you worry. I have recorded every episode for While I'm away and gotten them all squared away and

ready to go so I'll still be airing the show uninterrupted I'll still be available via, you know, social media or if you reach out on Patreon.

The internet is everywhere. It's just not always as reliable. So yeah, it's pretty typical that I record, you know, some of my episodes in advance, at least by a few weeks because of the process of how we go through and work on the show.

So let's talk about the show.

But before we do, you know what, I want to thank those of you who continue to support the show. I know these are really, really, really tough times for everybody. My show got canceled, fun, my newest TV show, so I don't really have any income for this foreseeable future.

That's why the podcast has been so important to me, especially as I gear up to go back to school in September

and start paying tuition again. I took the summer off because of the pandemic but I

am not allowed to take two semesters off in a row and And many of you are really struggling in your position.

So keep in mind the little spiel that I'm about to do.

It may not apply to you because I definitely don't want to put any pressure on anybody to financially

support a show that they're not in a position to financially support.

That's really not what this is about.

But basically the way that I fund my show is through

ad sales and through the support of listeners just like you so I can keep it free.

I'm not on a podcast network. I'm not part of a collective when I first

started the show many years ago. What is it like seven now? I don't even know. I did it by

myself. It's all been independent from the beginning and now I don't do it by myself

anymore. I'm lucky enough that I'm able to pay my assistant, Noel, shout out to Noel, to help with booking and things like that.

And also I have an editor who helps out with all of my post-production and you know that don't come cheap so and
