Like every kid with hairbrush in hand, I wanted to be a singer, but I lacked self-belief,

and I became a beautician, not a musician. At 18 I decided to give my life a makeover,

and I joined the Royal Navy. They taught me to do more with my hands, not to mention my head.

I always thought it'd be a pop star, but it turns out I shipped the perfect stage for me,

The Royal Bank Regenerate Fund is offering charities or communities who are undertaking a

sustainability project, the opportunity to apply for a £3,000 grant. If you or anyone you know

is involved in a charity or community operating in Scotland, then this fund could really be a benefit.

The grant is available for projects that align to one of four categories, energy efficiency and

buildings, environment nature and biodiversity, food, water and waste and transport and mobility.

This can relate to things like developing community outdoor space for outdoor sport and activities,

being more energy efficient by insulating the loft of your sport social clubs or using

LED bulbs or building a bike shed to encourage less motor use. That'll come in handy for my scooter.

Taking action together can really make a difference. I know how crucial a role the community

played in getting the local pitches in my area developed which allows me to get loads of local

kids playing football in my community soccer school. So to see if your project could be eligible and
