Greetings and welcome to a Monday night edition of the shotgun start. It is March 14th. Andy, how are we doing?

Brendan, I'm doing great. I'm ready to talk about the Valspar week. We're ready to go into the snake pit.

Fire it up for the copperhead course where there's snakes. Everywhere are snake statues. Are they going to mix reality snakes this week? Is this the new road that we're going down with this thing every week?

Goldboy could be a snake charmer this week. We could be sitting there playing the musical instrument and writing up.

Goldboy, you know, we talked about him on Friday, Goldboy. I mean, a lot's happened since then. He became a damn sensation. I don't know if we overdid it. Us personally, we tried to do it in moderation, but Goldboy became, I mean, an NBC leaned into it through him out there for us.

It was worried he'd been off and buried with the fishes thrown into the lake on Friday, but he returned for the weekend. Tiger got involved. We'll talk about Goldboy a little bit later. We don't need to lead with him.

Yeah, all right. So that's Goldboy. Cameron Smith is our winner of the 2022 Players Championship wins $3.6 million of a $20 million purse.

It was just a really, really strange player's championship. It was amusing on Thursday. It was unfortunate on Friday. Saturday was thrilling to watch.

I thought Sunday got slow. I thought Monday was pretty slow. At one point, Wild Knights made a comment like, I think everyone's just tired of this tournament.

And I think there was a sort of feeling of that like early on Monday as they're finishing round three and starting more.

I'll say that the enemy army was circling at the gate and there looked like some, there could be some really bad outcomes of winners.

You know, Keegan Bradley, Paul Casey, you know, it was looking ugly for moments on Monday there where it was like, oh no.

Cassie Munoz, Doug Gim and Annerbond Lahiri with your final t-time, which is, you know, a diverse group for sure.

But why the rest of the guys in the mix have for the tour for Cam Smith to come out on top?

Obviously, you know, a young player that's having now what is without a doubt a career year with winning the tournament champions in this into the top six in the world rankings, I believe.

And, you know, a player coming, and what I really appreciate about Cam Smith is a little bit different path, a little bit different game than what we see out of most players in the top six.
