Summary

Well, cut day couldn't have gotten off to a crazier start. It's not often a projected starting quarterback gets released, but that's what happened Tuesday as the Patriots let go of Cam Newton. Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson discuss the shocking move and why it happened. They also look at the outlook for New England with Mac Jones as the starter and Brinson insists on placing a certain wager IMMEDIATELY. Also, where will Cam land next if he truly wants to remain a QB1? The guys offer a couple of suggestions. Join us later Tuesday for a full CUT DAY reaction episode.

What's up everybody, welcome to the Pixics Podcast, CVS Sports Daily NFL Podcast, I'm

0:13.7

Wil Brinson, I'm your host, it is Tuesday, August 31st, and we have, I believe, our first

0:18.1

emergency podcast of the 2021 NFL season joining me to talk about Cam Newton being released

0:25.5

by the Patriots, Ryan Wilson, what's up, honey?

0:29.6

So this is crazy, baby, this is crazy town, so of course, breach isn't here because

0:34.3

he's off doing it, pulling his well, best well, Brinson, I'm looking at, he's tweeting

0:39.3

from his vacation, he just tweeted out, bishops, a sickamore, the team that IMG played in

0:43.4

the football game, the high school team, bishops, sickamore definitely is going to go after

0:46.4

Cam Newton now, John breach tweets seven minutes ago, and so there are a bunch of Cam Newton

0:51.2

sort of takes coming on, it's weird though, because here's the thing, Cam Newton played

0:56.8

really well this season, like really well, you look at the numbers, he didn't have quite

1:01.8

as many snaps as Mac Jones, so it's a shock that he was released, and part of me wonders

1:08.2

if it goes back to another tweet from our buddy Emory Hunt, someone tweeted at him, so

1:12.4

what's next for Cam Newton and Emory said, getting vaccinated, so I mean, you have to

1:17.9

wonder, the best ability is availability, we've heard that a ton during sort of post-COVID

1:23.5

NFL world, so he missed some time, it wasn't his fault, I grant you that, but he didn't

1:30.3

have COVID, but the protocols were such that he was unable to practice, that's one thing,

1:35.1

and maybe he wasn't crazy about the idea of this being a Jimmy Garoppolo slash trailer

1:38.8

in situation.

1:39.8

Well, I don't even think it's that, I think that Cam doesn't have any interest in being

1:42.8

a backup, and I think that Cam probably, I'm just speculation, was presented the opportunity

1:48.0

to be the starter or the 50-50 split?
