The point here is that our Lord wants to teach his disciples that he can be trusted

C.S. Lewis said this. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher.

He would either be a lunatic or else he would be a devil.

You must make your choice.

Either this man was and is the son of God, or else a madman or something worse.

So what did Jesus say about himself to prove his authority, his power, his deity.

John MacArthur considers that today in a study titled Jesus Over All.

Well, it's one of those statements that you expect all Christians to agree with. Jesus has power

over everyone and everything and yet John I wouldn't be surprised if many of our

listeners still come away from this series stunned by what scripture reveals

about the scope of our Lord's power.

No, I think that's right and I think typically the sort of default position in

looking at Jesus is his humanity because that's

what you see in the Gospels obviously the Gospel of John looks at his

deity but but the stories are his humanity and how he interacted with people.

And in the New Testament he comes across just as much a victim as a victor.

And in the end, of course, you know, they take his life.

That's all in the plan of God but the

Gospels themselves don't necessarily stress his complete sovereignty
