My name is Bianca Waters-Oltoff and I am excited to be with you this

week for Daily Drive with Lake Point Church. This week we have been addressing grit and how to build

resilience and perseverance. Now today I want to talk about our words and our actions and the gritty

people of God. I love what James pops out and tells us. He just

drops this bomb of wisdom in James 1, 22 through 25. He says this, but be doers of the word and not

hearers only deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hear of the word and not a doer, he's like a man

who looks intently at his natural

face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty and perseveres being no here

who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in all his doing.

Grit and perseverance helps us keep our faith and behave according to God's call when we feel

like we're stuck, when we feel like we're waiting, when we feel like we're in the heat of a battle.

Paul, our glorious model of grit and resilience,

he knew this feeling of being stuck. I mean, for crying out loud, he was imprisoned multiple times,

but specifically in this moment, in Rome. And he knew how to persevere under persecution that we

see in Acts chapter 14. Through Paul's behavior in each of these situations situations we can learn the importance of behaving with
