Welcome to this Abide Bedtime story, called by God.

I am going to tell you a story tonight of a mother, a boy, and a prophet of the Lord.

As you lie down on your bed, get as comfortable as possible.

This is a true tale that will still your soul and encourage you close your eyes breathe in deeply hold it

for a few seconds and release that breath as you do this feel your body relax and ready itself for a restful

night's sleep keep breathing slowly and deeply as you picture a woman Hannah on her knees tears flowing

down their cheeks as she cries out to God over her lack of children she doesn't know

why God has forsaken her her husband's other wife has children and she torments Hannah day

and night Hannah is heartbroken.

As she prostrates herself before the Lord, the prophet Eli confronts her.

Why are you drunk?

Put away your wine.

No, my Lord, I am not drunk.

I am pouring out my heart to the Lord, Hannah replies in a broken voice.

Eli then recognizes her anguish and prays a blessing on her.

May the Lord grant you what you desire Hannah returns home and in time

great rejoicing fills her heart it's true the Lord has remembered me and she is going to bear a child she recalls her words at the

temple if you will give me a son he will be yours all the days of his life

time passes Hannah bears a son and she names him Samuel because she said I have asked for him from the Lord

after the child is weaned Hannah is true to her word she takes Samuel to Eli the prophet
