I'm David Brown-Cachio. A droopy stock index is getting attention this morning.

Nine days in a row, the Dow has closed down.

Marketplace has been on the air since 1989,

and we've never seen nine days down.

In fact, if you're younger than 46 years old, you've never seen it.

But so what?

Let's bring in David Kelly, Chief Global Strategist at J.P. Morgan Funds. Good morning.

Good morning.

I could start with something overwrought like the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down for the ninth trading day in a row, the longest uninterrupted losing streak since the Blues Brothers first came to Saturday Night Live.

That's 1978.

But to a professional economist like yourself, is there any content in the Dow catching a nine-day cold?

No, really.

It is a very mild cold.

It has been tiptoeing down from a very great height.

And it's up over 15% for the year.

So I think we're a little spoils at this point.

But really, the stock markets had a great year, really great two years here.
