Summary

About the show: In a Presidential election cycle big on negativity and short on discussion of issues, anxiety is proving to be a dominant theme -- over the economy, national security, and indeed, what it means to be an American in the 21st century. This podcast brings the voices of people trying to hold on to their piece of the American Dream and others who are looking to build one. The United States of Anxiety gives you an wide-open window into the polarizing economic, social and political ideas that have people on the edge of their seats during this unprecedented election cycle. The United States of Anxiety is hosted by Kai Wright and produced by WNYC Studios & The Nation. Obama got a report card that's pretty striking. According to the Census Borough,

over the last couple of years, we've seen one of the most remarkable recoveries on record and I just want to tick off a few of the big takeaways there because they're actually quite eye-popping.

1:28.0

That was true for all racial and ethnic groups.

1:30.0

And it was actually true, most true at the bottom of the income ladder.

1:35.0

Poverty also fell by more than it had since 1968.

1:39.0

And again, that was in all racial and ethnic groups and all demographics.
