| 0:59.8 | this idea as being something that could actually happen. The polls were looking better and |
| 1:03.5 | better for Gavin Newsom. His approval numbers were in the high fifties for some inexplicable |
| 1:09.4 | reason as handling of the pandemic was approaching two thirds in California. Then all the sudden |
| 1:15.6 | things changed. Maybe the LA Times commissioning a poll with the University of California |
| 1:20.4 | Berkeley showing that among Californians most likely to vote, and that phrasing is important. |
| 1:27.2 | It's within the margin of error now. Retain Newsom is still ahead, but just barely 50% to |
| 1:34.2 | 47%. The sobering news here is that when you just look at registered voters in California, |
| 1:40.6 | it's 5136 to retain. The problem here for Newsom is motivation because according to the |
| 1:47.6 | same survey, 90% of Republicans expressed a high level of interest in the recall election, |
| 1:53.2 | while just 58% of Democrats and 53% of independent voters were as interested, Jim. It still needs |
