Thank you very much. We're going to dig right into this. I very much enjoyed your introduction,

but before we get to what you wrote in the introduction, which I think is very, very important,

then we need to explain the state of the nation at that time and especially what were the

circumstances and surrounding California at that time. How did they treat the Native

Americans, what you call the Californials. Let's first question what brought you to this

story. What, give us your background or the reason why you decided to write this book

about California justice, lynchings, shootouts and assassinations in the Golden State.
