Hello and welcome to another meeting of recipe club where we debate the best way to cook

the things you want to eat.

My name is Chris Yang.

Today, we're opening a mysterious box of white powder and diving straight in.

No rules, no safe words, just me, Brian Ford, Rachel Kong and Betty Crocker mixing it

up with one of the world's preeminent convenience foods.

Cake mix has been around since at least the 1930s, an invention of a man named John P. Duff

of P Duff and Sons in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Once the Duff man broke the seal on cake mixes, however, many others joined the party.

Betty Crocker, a fictional character, started hawking her own mix in 1947, Duncan Hines,

a real human, joined shortly after, and Pillsbury, a dope boy, introduced chocolate cake mix

in 1948.

Cake mix is all about convenience, and this week's listener submitted recipe is no exception.
