This week we have a busy docket on the Cafe Insider podcast.

The January 6th Committee is nearing the end of its investigation.

On Monday, the Committee voted to issue criminal referrals to the Department of Justice against Donald Trump and the number of his allies.

And the Committee released an executive summary of the report.

I think first off, it does something very understated which frankly may not have been the Committee's purpose, but certainly AIDS DOJ.

And that's that it begins to socialize the charges.

A pretty sophisticated discussion about these charges and what they mean and what DOJ would have to prove to bring them.

That's helpful.

Anytime we have a better educated public, I just think democracy works better.

I don't know this necessarily for Congress to do so.

It puts a little bit of undue political pressure, I think, arguably.

I mean, my bottom line is, I don't think it makes really any difference.

And the people who argue it undermines the independence of the Justice Department, I think, are overstating the matter.

And I think, in my view, personal view, people think it's helpful or also overstating the matter.

I think it's symbolic gesture that is not about DOJ.

It's about Congress itself.

And the District of Columbia Bar panel determined that Rudy Giuliani violated attorney rules with his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

This is a huge deal.

This had the potential to undermine an American election, prevent the peaceful transfer of power, and is undermined people's faith just by the bringing of these lawsuits.
