The college football playoff committee is a joke, and with these week 13 rankings, I have the perfect example of it.

So, BYU comes in on these college football playoff rankings at number 14.

I don't hate that.

I really don't have a huge deal with that.

But what I have a major problem with is that they're sitting there in the college

football playoff rankings behind SMU.

Now, you might say to yourself, well, you know, BYU lost to Kansas.

SMU beat Boston College.

You know, what's the big deal?

I mean, why should we worry all that much about it?

Here's why this matters.

The college football playoffs criteria is championships one that's obviously irrelevant, strength of schedule, head-to-head competition, comparative outcomes of common opponents.

This is very easy for the college football playoff committee.

BYU has a better strength of schedule.

It's 53rd.

SMU's 86th.

Not even all that close.

Then stack up the head to head.

Oh yeah.

They played each other.
