Well to the end that the word of God might dwell in us from hour to hour I invite you to open the word of God written or Bible from the pew in front of you and turn to Hebrews chapter 5

versus 11 through 14.

Hebrews 5, 11 through 14. Concerning him, referring back now to Melkizadik as a type or example of Christ,

concerning him we have much to say and it is hard to explain since you have become

dull of hearing for though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach

you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

For everyone who partakes only as milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness,

for he is a babe. But solid food is for the mature who because

of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

Father, I ask that as we unfold this text,

you would. unfold this text. You would work on our spiritual senses to create in us a mind to discern good and evil, and so be receptive to all the truth that you teach, and to be discerning what is a miss. I pray that we would not be dull of hearing, but that we

would be diligent and receptive and embracing of all that is true and beautiful. And so transform us deep, deep down and make

us mature. In Jesus' name, I pray,

Up until this point in the book of Hebrews, the author has not stated the disease or the problem that he's been dealing with. You hear it, you can hear

it between the lines over and over again when he says things like chapter 2 verse 1 pay close attention

chapter 3 verse 1 consider Jesus.

Chapter 3, verse 8, don't harden your hearts like Israel did in the wilderness.

Chapter 3, verse 12.

Take care, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief.

Chapter 4, verse 1. Fear lest you fail to enter into God's rest.

Chapter 4, verse 11, be diligent to enter God's rest, lest you fall by some kind of disobedience.
