Summary

The conversation continues. In part two, Dr. Phil goes deeper with Roblox survivor Michael aka “Schlep”... who says he was groomed on Roblox as a child by a platform-promoted developer, his attorney Steven Vanderporten, and trial attorney Mark Lanier, who last week won a landmark $6 million verdict after a Los Angeles jury found Meta and YouTube liable for allegedly engineering their platforms to addict children. According to the jury's findings, the companies acted with malice, fraud, and oppression. Today the question gets answered: was this an accident or was it by design? According to internal documents introduced at trial, Meta executives were aware their platforms were allegedly harming children and continued operating anyway. Dr. Phil breaks down what parents need to know right now and what they need to do tonight before their child logs on again.

There have been times when profit motive just really did a leapfrog over morality, over consciousness.

0:44.3

And I'm telling you that I believe, and you've heard me talk about this before, that we have companies that have made a decision to exploit young people.

0:57.0

Now, why would they want a young adherent rather than somebody older?

1:01.0

Well, because if you get somebody at 10 or 12, you have them for 60 or 70 years.

1:08.0

If you get them when they're 50, you have them for maybe 15 or 20 years.

1:13.6

So you get people involved in your brand and what you do really young. They're worth a lot of money to you across time

1:22.6

because you can continue to just bring new products and engage them and engage them and

1:28.6

engage them and engage them and people are targeting our young people to the

1:33.8

point that it in my opinion has changed the entire face of the American
