Good morning, fantasy baseball friends. It's your old pal, Mike Carter, here with you again for another edition of Breakfast with the Beats.

With me, as always, is my good friend Dave Funnel. Coming to you from a very rainy Chicago this morning,

we're wondering if we're going to get any of our games in on this fine Saturday morning, but rest well because I have a gigantic mug of coffee here. I'm very excited to drink it.

I've already had a couple this morning as I was writing my articles for the weekend. Dave, good

morning. How are you doing this morning? How's your coffee? My coffee is good. It is warm. It is

right from the dark side here. And I need it this morning. I woke up with a cold. So I'm, I need everything and anything I can do to help me get over it.

Dave, total side note on life. You have the craziest coffee mugs ever. Like, there's so much fun. Well, thank you. I have quite the collection. So maybe every week I'll bring, I'll bring something new out and see what we can, see if we can get some conversation going. Do you get, do you get them a lot from kids as like, you know, Christmas gifts and end of your gifts? I do. I do get a lot of

mugs at school. A lot of them are like teacher mugs. It says like best teacher or something like

that. But yeah, I like to collect different mugs. I think it's kind of cool just the different,

I don't know, designs or whatever. Yeah, and some of them have really cool stories too, right?

You know, you get something from someone that maybe you weren't expecting or it really kind of just touches you in a different way when you're getting those types of things.

I have a ton of those two. I get more like the best principal ever, but I keep reminding my students that many of them have not had too many principals. Yet in my school, the way that it works, there are quite a few kids that have had a number. So I guess in that ranking system, I feel okay about that. So that's kind of fun. Yeah, you have a lot of fun mugs there. I have a lot of ones too. I've ones that my kids made it for me at home. I've got a couple that I've picked up along the way. I've got some that are not for public usage, so I will not use them on the show. This is a PG show. We're a family-friendly unit here. So, Dave, I wanted to let you know, too, our baseball team, the Batavia baseball guys, boy, oh boy, what a game we had yesterday. So for those of you who

know or listen, you know that I coach the baseball team, the freshman baseball team at the high

school here in town with the inimitable Kyle Chirac, just one of the greatest coaches I've ever

been around, just a really, really smart guy, intuitive, great with the boys. Yesterday we were losing 9 to nothing in the bottom of the third, and we came back in

one miraculously.

I have to shout out a couple of guys who did some great things yesterday.

Mason Sullivan came on in relief and shut down the other team for three straight

innings.

He didn't give up anything. He gave up one hit and kept them right where they were at nine so that we were able to nickel and dime our way back in. So we scored one in the bottom of the third, two in the bottom of the fourth, seven in the bottom of the fifth, and then another two more in the bottom of the sixth, leaving the other team very dejected as they were leaving,

as you might imagine. With a 9-0-0 lead, they thought they were going to coached, and we came back and got them pretty remarkable. So now we have a three-game set for all the marbles with our rivals, Wheaton-Warneville South. It's raining here, not sure if we're going to get the game in today or not, but excited for the boys. And I also want to shout out Colin Spahn,

who is our second catcher, but has also been EHing for us a little bit. Got a couple of big hits yesterday, a big at bat where he moved runners over to second and third, sacrificing himself to get those guys in. And then Carson Temple got the hit, the big hit at the end of the game there that ended up getting us just two more runs.
