Verse 1, Simon Peter God. When did he become an apostle? A delegate a messenger one sent forth with orders. That's an apostle. Many, I'm convinced, many, many, many

missionaries are actually apostles. There are 24 apostles in the New Testament alone. So now, turn with me to the 60th chapter of Matthew, please.

The 13th verse.

When Jesus came into the coast of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples saying,

whom do men say that I the son of man am? They say, some say that you're John the

Baptist, Elias, and others, Jeremiah, and one of the prophets. But he saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am?

Simon Peter answered and said,

thou art the Christ. answered and said,

thou art the Christ, the son of the living God.

Jesus answered and said unto him,

blessed art thou Simon Barjona.

Now that was his name.

Blessed art thou Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it under thee, but my father

which is in heaven.

And I say unto thee you are a rock and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

That's when he became Simon Peter.

And he was never known by any other name after that.
