Why, hello there, Procoptons. I removed a previous message in this feed recently because I didn't want it in the feed forever to begin with, but also, and more relevant to this message now, I knew the information would change quickly, so I have an update for everyone.

Now, for some of you, this may be the first time you're hearing of this news, so relax. A lot of this is already resolved, but there's a really important message

in what's going to follow. So make it through the whole thing, please. Here's a quick recap.

Almost two weeks ago, Evergreen, the network that purchased my podcast in 2024, let me know that

the podcast isn't performing financially or as financially well as they wanted it to, and they're going to pull it.

Now, this, as you might imagine, was, is a massively dispreferred outcome for me. This is not

what I want to happen. And I don't want it to happen for at least two reasons. The primary being

that it takes this excellent and helpful material that has changed a lot of lives for the better

offline, which means it won't help anyone

anymore. It's just gone forever. And then secondly, this podcast represents four years of my work and

career, a career that I started the day I launched practical stoicism and that I was only able to

break into as a non-academic, specifically because of practical stoicism. So there's a lot of concern for the cosmopolis

and also emotion and concern for my own career mixed up in this. So naturally I started

scrambling and very quickly, from all of you, the idea of a buyback was floated. The idea being that

if the podcast had been depreciated in value, then I could probably buy

the intellectual property back from Evergreen for way less than they bought it for. It turns out that

this amount is $15,000. Now, believe it or not, I was actually able to find just a few days later

someone willing to cover that entire amount all on their own. This is still a little bit in progress because there's some contracts that still need to get signed, but the show's going to belong to me again in January. Now, at the time of this recording, to make it very clear, which is December 22nd, the show still belongs to Evergreen. And they know all this is going on. They know what I'm trying to accomplish, and they're very friendly. I don't want anybody mad at Evergreen. They're making a business decision. Please don't bully them or be upset with them. They're trying to protect their financial interests. It's what companies do. You can't hold it against them. It's their nature. Now, you know as well as I do that I have another job. I have a day job. I enjoy this job. I

like the people I work with. The work is kind of rewarding, but it is in direct competition with my

ability to do better work in philosophy. There are so many things that I cannot do with this

podcast or with my writing, with all my free public-facing work because of time constraints. I have basically a few hours a week, and that's about it. Now, I want to solve this problem. And in fact, it's something I've been trying to solve for a long time. It is, in part, what I was trying to solve when I sold the podcast Evergreen in the first place. But that didn't work. And I think it didn't work because what I'm learning is that monetization of content just

doesn't seem to work anymore. Maybe it worked in 2010 and the year 2000, but it just doesn't
