Summary

Butt, bum, arse, ass - whatever you call it, few parts of the body cause as much head-scratching and discussion as the rear end. Whether you like it big or small, we all aspire to having firm buttocks. My guest this week is known as The Glute Guy. Bret Contreras was teased at school for his diminutive butt, so he decided that the best revenge was to learn everything there was to know about glutes. After today’s show, you too will have a degree in buttology. thesculptedvegan.com

Well, hey there. Welcome to the Strong and Sculpted podcast. This is me, your host, Kim Constable, also known as the Sculpted Vegan, to talk about all things strong and of course, all things sculpted. So this week I have a very special episode for you. I have a guest

0:24.5

called Brett Contreras. I nearly said his number. I was like, Brett, no, a guest called Brett Contreras,

0:30.1

who is also known as the glute guy. Now, I have followed Brett for probably about four years

0:37.4

since I began my body sculpting journey, because as you all know, because I've talked about it loads and loads, the reason why I started training in the gym was because I wanted to grow bigger glutes. So what did I do whenever I wanted to grow bigger glutes? Well, I looked up on the internet how to grow big

0:54.8

glutes. And of course, who was the first person who came up? Mr. Brett Contreras. Now, Brett is very,

1:01.5

very widely known all over the world. He's been featured in major publications, every major

1:06.4

fitness magazine. He has several books, which I'm all going to tell you all about in a second or two,

1:13.1

but he really is one of the most well-known glute trainers in the world, hence his name

1:20.1

the glute guy. Now, whenever I first found Brett, I bought his book, well, one of his

1:25.9

and the Strong Curves book was a woman. The things that I

1:34.0

learned in the book was phenomenal. So I learned many things, some of which I talk about here in

1:39.4

this interview with Brett. One of them, actually, one of the most important things I learned

1:43.4

was that the glutes are the biggest muscle in the body them, actually, one of the most important things I learned was that the glutes are

1:45.1

the biggest muscle in the body. And actually, your glutes will turn off and become inactive if you

1:51.6

have any kind of injury or if you sit for too long or, you know, we have, we lead a very

1:56.5

sedentary lifestyle these days. We sit a lot in our butts, and our glutes turn off very, very quickly.

2:02.0

And one of the things I learned in the book was whenever you have weak glutes or whenever you

2:07.3

have glutes that aren't, you know, doing what they're supposed to be doing, which really is,

2:11.4

you know, picking up a lot of the slack of moving and jumping and, you know, running and training and even, you know, everything that we

2:19.0

even just lifting furniture or, you know, moving stuff around at home, your glutes are supposed

2:22.8

to power you through your workouts, power you through your day. And one of the things I learned

2:27.3

was if your glutes aren't strong enough, other muscle groups will pick up the slack.
