Max Parker stared at the stranger who sat across from him at the kitchen table. Steam

from their coffee cups drifted up through the late afternoon sunlight. Max was trying

to decide if he liked the man and if he could trust him.

Anne Parker was taken in by the lean cowboy, as was her daughter. The stranger told the

family of Butch Cassidy that he was looking for their son. He said Butch owed him money.

Anne asked if he cared to stay for supper and the stranger smiled and nodded.

During the evening he returned to the subject of Butch Cassidy's location. He claimed to
