Summary

All must be aware of the possibility of losing one's soul in pursuit of gaining the world. One will inevitably face opposition from the world. Will you give in? Christ's demand of love is difficult and many do not want to follow it because it entails suffering. But in order to follow Christ you must consciously and purposely walk the path of suffering love.

This is Cardinal Francis George. I invite you to join me for the next two minutes to reflect

0:09.0

with Father Robert Barron on the Word of God, which is the Word on Fire. Word on Fire, Catholic

0:14.2

Ministries, is a non-profit ministry at the forefront of Catholic evangelization, using

0:18.9

new media to spread the faith and every continent. Father Barron challenges us to open our hearts

0:23.9

to the Word on Fire, which is God's Word of Love for each of us. If our hearts are open,

0:29.5

the Lord can change and transform us so that we might speak with love about the one who

0:34.6

0:39.4

Chicago now present Word on Fire.

1:32.7

Now today is the passage just following that. Jesus lays out the cost in no uncertain

1:41.4

terms. Listen, from that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem

1:50.2

and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed

1:56.2

and on the third day be raised. He will go, in other words, as the bearer of the divine

2:05.6

love, as the Christ, to the capital of the nation, and there he will be opposed, yes, even

2:15.1

to the point of death. Hard message but a true one. In a world gone wrong, here's the

2:25.5

principle, in a world gone wrong, the divine love will typically meet with resistance.
