Summary

Have you ever felt like you're running in place professionally? I know I have. After finishing college and starting a photography business I had to navigate this issue myself. I was always doing something, wearing all types of hats, but I wasn't seeing the results. In this episode, I go deep into my story to address one of the most critical elements of being a successful professional, no matter the discipline: where to place your focus.

What really moves the needle and what doesn't? At the end of the episode get ready to either write down or visualize what I adopted in Creative Calling from President Eisenhower: a matrix for prioritization. This tool will help to determine what is truly effective and what isn't. It's helped me hone in on the goals and direction I want to grow in and I can't wait to hear back from you about what you took away from this episode. Text me at  206-309-5177 or drop me a message on social.

resource. Now, I got to confess that growing got, this key underlying resource.

You're impressive and deserving of our attention, our sympathy and special treatment, right?

0:49.0

They're so busy.

0:51.0

They had it rough.

0:53.2

But once I quit graduate school and went to work for myself full time busy got

1:00.8

really real for me it wasn't a performative oh i'm so busy it was like oh my god there's not

1:08.0

enough time in the day for me to do the things that I want and need to do.

1:12.7

And suddenly, I found myself in a position where I had to pay rent. I had to put food on the

1:17.7

table. I couldn't just walk down the corridor to the cafeteria there at college. It was always

1:26.9

as though there were not enough hours in the day.

1:29.4

And over time and without consciously realizing it, I let this sort of busy mentality

1:36.4

take hold.

1:38.0

It was seductive.

1:39.6

I confess, whenever I told my friends how busy I was, they were always impressed.

1:44.9

They asked a lot of questions and, you know, naturally, you know, wanted to know what I was up to.

1:49.5

What you're so busy doing, Chase, which meant I got to talk about myself and how important
