The president is taking a victory lap saying that tariffs are proving his critics wrong and have brought America back.

A lot of people, a lot smarter than me, said tariffs are going to cause inflation.

They have to cause inflation. It's a tax on the consumer. It's going to be bad.

Well, I think the proof is in the pudding. It's not bad.

When President Trump imposed tariffs on most foreign countries back in the spring,

economists on both sides of the aisle raised serious concerns. Some even predicted an economic disaster.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, the president answers his critics.

He says his trade policies have not caused a meltdown.
