In our trade war with China, America must confront a new problem of where to source our

rare earth minerals after Beijing retaliated last week by suspending the export of these

minerals to the United States.

We do have stockpiles. We don't know exactly how large our stockpiles are, but the Chinese are

obviously using this as a negotiating tool after we put 100 plus percent tariffs on their exports to the United States.

In response to the president's tariffs, China last week slapped export restrictions on

seven rare earth elements and magnets that we use in the U.S. to manufacture high-tech products

like hard drives, jet engines, and computer screens.

Experts suggest these minerals aren't just essential to consumer technology, but to life-saving
