President Trump is trying to calm nerves today as trade tensions with China had investors anxious last week,

saying President Xi Jinping is open to a deal.

I think the president has to walk a fine line at this juncture, and I'm pretty short.

And we've seen it throughout the last few months.

He's very good at stringing things out when need be.

So the hope is some sort of kumbaya moment.

He's not looking to destroy China.

That's the messaging President Trump sent over the weekend as Wall Street ended last

week on edge due to growing trade tensions and the president's threat that he'd add an

additional 100% tariff on Chinese imports starting on November 1st unless Beijing scraps

restrictions on rare earth minerals.

Speaking with Sunday morning futures, the president seemed confident he and President

Xi Jinping could make a deal when they meet later this month in South Korea.

Also on the mind of investors, as we kick off another week, a government shutdown with no end in sight,

earnings from some key companies, questions over AI stocks, and the delayed

release of the US Consumer Price Index, an inflation gauge that will likely impact the Federal

Reserve when they meet next week.

So with all this going, how are the markets preparing for what is sure to be a busy week
