Hey everyone, welcome to self-helpless.

I'm Delaney Fisher, and today I'm chatting with Jessica Jem,

who was an educator in a variety of ways for several years as a substitute,

a para or teacher's aide running her own classroom, teaching everything from history to computer science,

helping kids with special needs, teaching in a public inner city school to small private schools, and she's sharing about the moment she hit major burnout, so much so that she left her classroom one day and went straight to the

hospital because she thought she was having a heart attack. Here's what I love

so much about this episode because Jessica is a former educator she was able to be incredibly honest about her experience.

This is about as unfiltered as you can get,

and I'm beyond appreciative of her willingness

to share with us in this way.

I know a lot of current educators are not able to put certain things out there understandably.

So this is a really unique perspective you might not always be able to get in a public setting, especially for those of you who want to work in education, those of you who already work in education, and might be feeling a little lonely about it.

Those of you who feel like you're struggling with the workload or other demands of your position,

or if you're simply experiencing burnout in life or work in general.
