Is the Labour Party on the brink of civil war?

Yesterday, Kirstarmer's camp blocked Andy Burnham's plans to return to Parliament.

An officer's group on Labour's National Executive Committee, which included the Prime Minister,

rejected the Manchester Mayor's request to stand for

selection in the Gorton and Denton by-election. The decision has driven a rift through a party

already on seriously shaky ground. I'm Anusha Kellyan and joining me today is our political

Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has defected to reform.

Yep, she's off.

Yeah, she says it's like, it feels like she's come home, which is maybe apt because

I'm sure some people thought she defected already.

Yeah, yeah.

In the, I mean, she hadn't, but I think this is maybe of everyone, one of the people that

there's been the most speculation about, there's been a feeling of inevitability.

She's not really been very involved in Kemi Badenoxx Tory party for quite some time.

She's not that visible in Parliament.

And I mean, obviously people are not their spouses and, you know, she is not her husband,

but her husband has been a big reform donor and really involved with the party for quite a long time.
