Summary

In the 19th century, people would be buried in a coffin with a small string fed inside the coffin. This string would be attached to a bell above ground. If the person who was buried was interred by accident and was still very much alive, they would pull the string, ring the bell, and therefore let people above ground know that they weren't dead. This may sound silly to you, but after today's first story, it's actually a genius invention. Follow Be.
